The ‘Happy 2 Year’ Wedding Anniversary Celebration Of Malice & Mario Sweet

There is something undeniably beautiful about a married couple in love.  After lending their background vocals to the Seattle Hip Hop group The Physics, Malice & Mario Sweet step into the limelight with their Happy 2 Year EP.  In celebrating their second year of marriage, they reveal the emotional complexity of fighting for love while being in love.  With Malice & Mario Sweet juggling full-time jobs and graduate school sessions, you get the sense that life is happening at a lightning quick pace.  The brief, rustic opener, Happy 2 Year, flows into the frenetic breakbeat of Speed of Light where Malice & Mario Sweet’s smooth, slower vocals give a sense of the couple racing time.  Traversing sonic landscapes like a time machine, Malice & Mario Sweet hop on the dance floor with crisp horns and a two-step inducing rhythm section.  DateNight purely captures the optimistic euphoria of a couple’s night out.  After Mrs. Mario Sweet showcases her soulful, upper register on Malice, Mario’s gentle tenor steps back in to create their iconic tight harmonies on Love & Friendship.  The symbiotic essence of their relationship can be distilled down to this breezy, Hip Hop jazz track.  At the close of the EP, Malice & Mario Sweet still has surprises to share.  An impressive rap verse by R&B songstress Choklate on Happiness, the hint of a Marvin Gaye-esque falsetto on Mario, and the Janet Jackson tribute on the 80’s R&B Living Life all close out an EP that’s equally fun and romantic.

Malice & Mario Sweet sing as if their voices were made for each other.  I have to agree that this talented, soulful duo “is better as two”.  Website  Facebook  Malice Twitter  Mario Twitter
