Watching A Career Blossom: Alicia James Debuts ‘Seven’ Video
It gives me goosebumps when I see an artist’s growth. Not too long ago, I discovered Alicia James by listening to Crazy In Love on her Reverbnation page. Little did I know that Alicia would blossom into one of the premiere singer-songwriters of indie R&B with her latest project, Seven. My baby is all grown up (*tear*) with her new video for the album’s title track. It’s a very simple and straightforward concept where Alicia is chilling on the stu in a location eerily similar to the Antoine Dodson video. Praise THEE Lord that there’s no Bedroom Intruder song, but only a woman passionate about her dreams even in the face of adversity. It’s nice to see Alicia “move on up” out the projects and stroll through sunny downtown Houston. This scenic transition is an understated, yet meaningful tool to show the power of determination.
